2017 Day 291 – More Fantastic Promises

Wow, three days of promises from Jeremiah!! The last two blogs (here and here) were promises to return Israel and Judah to the Promised Land – and they can extend to us.

But THESE Promises are clearly about the gift God reserved for those who came after Jesus – even though it has application to the return to Jerusalem, too. I love, love, love these verses:

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”  Jeremiah 31: 33-34

There’s not much to add to such a great passage. What will this new covenant bring?

  • God’s law is written within, on my heart
  • God will be my God
  • I don’t have to be taught about God because I can know Him personally
  • He forgives my iniquity and remembers my sin no more.

Awesome!! And promised hundreds of years before Christ made this possible!

Dear Lord: Thank you for this wonderful and encouraging passage. Amen!
