2017 Day 197 – Rest and Safety

A bunch of verses sort of hit me today with a rather common theme. God provides us with rest and safety. I’ll just tie them together tonight:

David’s charge to Solomon:

Be strong and courageous. Fear not; do not be dismayed. 1 Chronicles 22: 13b

We do not need to fear when God provides rest and safety!

David repeats God’s promise to Solomon:

The Lord, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people, and he dwells in Jerusalem forever. 1 Chronicles 23: 25

And the Apostle Paul writes of our salvation – our rest from sin and safety from its punishment – that we are:

…justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Romans 3: 24

And the Lord says of one in need:

“I will place him in the safety for which he longs.” Psalm 12: 5b

Dear Lord: Thank you that you provide rest and safety to your people. Help me to remember that when I’m tired and anxious. Amen.
