2017 Day 40 – “Is it I, Lord?”

I love it when I notice something in the Bible I never saw before. Like today.

It’s the Last Supper and Jesus says, “Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”

To which the disciples began to ask, one at a time, “Is it I, Lord?”

Only one person asked a different question.

Judas asked, “Is it I, Rabbi?”

Wow. What a difference.

To Judas, Jesus was just a teacher.

To the rest, He was their Lord. Their Master. Their Messiah.

That made all the difference.

Dear Lord: Thank You that you teach me, but that you are far more. Thank you for doing what it took to turn my heart toward You, to recognize that you are more than a teacher. You are my Lord and my God. Amen.

  1. Cool- I love finding new perspectives in the Bible! It is indeed a living book that is to to be studied! & I love your find. It’s true, how we think of God will reflect in our loyalty to Him.
