Day 357 – Repeat Your Deeds, Lord!

I liked Habakkuk’s prayer today. He’s referring to God’s great work of redemption through Moses – and asking God to once more save His people as Judah faces imminent invasion by Babylon:

Lord, I have heard of your fame;
I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord.
Repeat them in our day,
in our time make them known;
in wrath remember mercy.  Habakkuk 3: 2 NIV

As I read the prayer, I thought about right here and now.

I thought about times in our country’s history when God brought revival, when people returned to Him on a mass basis, when repentance ruled, when God’s justice for all people prevailed.

Repeat those revivals, Lord!

Remember mercy since You already poured out Your wrath on Your Son.

And I thought of the ministry with which I work. From the 50s through the 70s, it had an amazing impact on women’s lives around the world. Women heard the gospel and responded. Lives changed. This ministry has been on the decline for years, yet the church desperately needs to reach out to women with the gospel, reach out beyond the four walls of the local church.

Repeat the impact on women’s lives through this ministry, Lord!

Remember mercy since You already poured out Your wrath on Your Son.

Amen.
