Psalm 86 is a good one. Today’s verses compare God to the gods.
What are our “gods” today? To what do we look to have our needs met, to satisfy our souls, to win our battles – other than the Lord?
Whatever it is – accomplishments, being a “good” person, personal freedom, relationships, wealth, beauty, fame, a viral video on YouTube… nothing touches God’s deeds:
Which is why I need my faithful Lord to teach me to be faithful, to turn nowhere else for my needs, to be so in awe of Him that I long for His beauty and fear to dim His glory through treasonous turning to other gods:
Teach me your way, Lord,
that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name.
I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;
I will glorify your name forever.
For great is you love toward me. vs.11-12, 13a
Help me Lord to more deeply recognize Your great love towards me, to have an undivided heart, to praise and glorify your name forever.
With ALL my heart.
