Some verses in Psalm 77 grabbed me tonight:
Your path [God] led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen. You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
Psalm 77: 19-20 NIV
Isn’t it like that with us?
God leads us through troubles, chaos, conflict. He takes us by the hand. We arrive safely on the other side.
And though He takes our hand, we do not see His footprints.
Sometimes because He leaves no footprints, we can refuse to see His hand at work. We can think that we are in charge or that circumstances just happened or that our safe passage was a coincidence or that those God used to lead us were doing the work themselves.
But why not believe the truth?
That God led us, even though He left no visible evidence of His presence.
After all – why believe in a mere mortal story when we can know the story that our Shepherd loves us and died to lead us to safety?
